BALLET MASTER TEACHER


The former principal dancer of the Vienna State Opera Ballet, Brigitte Stadler, was born in Vienna and received her dance training at the Ballet School of the Austrian Federal Theaters. Her most influential teacher was the former prima ballerina of the Vienna State Opera, Prof. Edeltraud Brexner. She also studied with Stanley Williams, Alexandra Danilova, and Soki Schorer in New York and Marika Besobrasova in Monte Carlo. At 14, she was accepted as the youngest member of the Vienna State Opera Ballet. She danced her first leading role as Marie in the "Nutcracker", choreographed by Juri Grigorowitsch, at 17. A year later, she was partnered for the first time by Rudolf Nureyev as Odile in the 100th performance of his choreography of "Swan Lake". Further joint performances followed. Her extensive repertoire included numerous leading roles: La Sylphide, Giselle, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Raymonda, La fille mal gardee, Silvia, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Bayadere, The Merry Widow, Romeo and Juliet, Manon. As well as ballets by George Balanchine, Jiri Kylian, John Neumeier, Valery Panov, Laszlo Seregi, Rudi van Dantzig, Hans van Manen, Renato Zanella, and others. Her dance partners: Rudolf Nureyev,Michael Birkmeyer,Charls Jude,Peter Breuer,Manuel Legris,Irek Mukhamedov,Peter Schaufuss,Tamas Solymosi,Gyula Harangozo,Vladimir Malakhov,Valery Panov. In the following years, she directed the rehearsals for The Bayadere and was responsible for the revival of Elena Chernishova's "Giselle", and worked with the soloists on the revival of Frederick Ashton's "La fille mal gardee".
